So of course today is RAVENS Purple Friday!!!!!!!! I decided
to wear my Ray Rice jersey to work. This is not my first time wearing it. The
first time, I was hesitant because I didn’t want anyone to say anything to me,
or look at me funny. I quickly got over that. I sat and thought what privilege do
I have to pass judgment on someone I don’t know, more importantly who am I to
pass judgment on anyone at all?
Just for the record I don’t condone violence at all. Let me
be perfectly clear on that. However I also don’t condone Double Jeopardy. In case you
don’t know what that is here’s the definition (you all know I love the dictionary
lol). Double Jeopardy “forbids a defendant from being tried again on the
same (or similar) charges following a legitimate acquittal or conviction. In laymen’s
terms if they did it once and got their punishment or nonpunishment then they can’t
be punished again for the same thing.
When I look back
over my own life I’m reminded of all the times I’ve made a mistake or done something
wrong and then turned around and did it again. Man keeps records of that will,
write it down and stow it away to throw back at you at your weakest point. But then I think about God’s mercy and how
many times He's given me not just a second chance, not just a third and a fourth and a fifth and a…..should
I go on. With all the mess I’ve done, if
He can forgive me and forget what I’ve done shouldn’t I be able to do the same,
even when it comes to myself? But I’m only human and the only thing I can do is
continue to try.
So of course today is RAVENS Purple Friday!!!!!!!!(You look wonderful in your #27) Ray Rice jersey - I am wearing my Beast of the East (combo Orioles & Ravens). I agree double jeopardy - giving additional punishment for same offense is OFFENSIVE. We are all human - make mistakes, it is when we learn positives from our mistakes as to not repeat them - is MONUMENTAL. It is easy to overlook positive experiences/episodes in others when the shadow of a negative act come forward. No human should judge another's heart, no human should think they are above error. The true JUDGE of our actions, will be waiting on our judgement day in HIS presence. So, life goes on and we pass this threshold briefly. Another great post to ponder for the weekend. Thanks
